GALACTICNUCLEUS: A high-angular-resolution <i>JHK</i><i>s</i> imaging survey of the Galactic centre

چکیده
The extreme extinction ($A_V\sim30$\,mag) and its variation on arc-second scales towards the Galactic centre hamper study of stars. Their analysis is restricted to near infrared (NIR) regime, where curve can be approximated by a broken power law. Therefore, correcting for fundamental analyse structure stellar population central regions our Galaxy. We aim to, (1) discuss different strategies de-redden photometry check usefulness extinction; (2) build maps NIR bands $JHK_s$ make them publicly available; (3) create de-reddened catalogue GALACTICNUCLEUS (GNS) survey, identifying foreground stars; (4) perform preliminary $K_s$ luminosity functions (KLFs). used from GNS survey whole catalogue. took red clump (RC) giant stars similar brightnesses as reference photometry. discussed limitations process analysed non-linear effects de-reddening. obtained high resolution ($\sim3''$) with low uncertainties ($\lesssim5$\,\%) computed average extinctions each covered GNS. checked that effectively correct differential reducing spread RC features factor $\sim2$. assessed validity law approach computing two equivalent $A_H$ using either $JH$ $HK_s$ same compatible within uncertainties. Finally, we KLFs lines sight found belonging NSD contain homogeneous significantly in innermost bulge regions.

ISMI: a classification index for high angular resolution diffusion imaging
Diffusion MRI allows the examination of neuronal pathways in vivo. In contrast to diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) high angular resolution diffusion imaging (HARDI) [5,6] is able to reconstruct more than one fiber population within a voxel. HARDI-based tractography approaches need to identify voxels with multiple diffusion directions. In addition, fiber integrity information is vital in neuro-app...
متن کامل0 A deep submillimetre survey of the Galactic Centre
We present first results from a submillimetre continuum survey of the Galactic Centre ‘Central Molecular Zone’ (CMZ), made with SCUBA on the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope. SCUBA’s scan-map mode has allowed us to make extremely wide-field maps of thermal dust emission with unprecedented speed and sensitivity. We also discuss some issues related to the elimination of artefacts in scan-map data. O...
متن کاملQuantifying Stellar Mass Loss with High Angular Resolution Imaging
Introduction. Mass is constantly being recycled in the universe. One of the most powerful recycling paths is via stellar mass-loss. All stars exhibit mass loss with rates ranging from ~10
متن کاملVisualization Tools for High Angular Resolution Diffusion Imaging
There is a major effort in medical imaging to develop algorithms to extract information from DTI and HARDI, which provide detailed information on brain integrity and connectivity. As the images have recently advanced to provide extraordinarily high angular resolution and spatial detail, including an entire manifold of information at each point in the 3D images, there has been no readily availab...
